GG&G Under Foregrip Integrated Rail
(UFIR)
Vertical foregrips, which can
trace their history back to the famous Model 1921 Thompson submachine gun, have
recently leaped into prominence once again in military, law enforcement and
civilian arenas. When attached to a compact, shoulder mounted tactical
firearm they provide the operator with several important advantages from
substantially diminishing muzzle climb during burst-fire sequences to simply
offering a more comfortable shooting stance. With the recent
introduction of the Surefire M900, a combination flashlight and vertical
foregrip, the operator can acquire a product that fills both requirements.
However, not every agency or
individual for that matter, can afford or justify the purchase of a large,
expensive forearm assembly surrounded by multiple rail assemblies, when all they
want to do is add a vertical foregrip or flashlight to the weapon. Over
eight years ago, GG&G introduced an inexpensive Under Forearm Integrated Rail
(UFIR) that permits instant installation and removal of a number of different
vertical foregrips on the M16/AR15 weapon series, as well as flashlights and
numerous other accessories. The GG&G UFIR can easily be installed onto
the underside of an M16/AR15 foregrip, standard or M4, using simple hand tools
and a small amount of Loctite 262. The three point mounting system insures
a solid, rugged mounting platform. Installation does not require permanent
alteration to the foregrip. Detailed instructions and all of the
parts required are supplied in the kit. The UFIR is manufactured from 6061
T6 Billet aluminum, is Type III hard-coat anodized matte black per mil-spec and
is machined to MIL-STD-1913 specifications. It is a lightweight
accessory-only 1.6 ounces.
GG&G also offers a vertical
foregrip for your use. It is CNC machined from a solid piece of black
acetal polymer. This rugged vertical foregrip is 4.5? in length and 1.250?
in diameter. The threaded core offers a secure and dry environment to
store batteries or other small items.
